The 2026 Season
July 1-Aug 15
 
Racing
 
Friday, July 3, and Saturdays, July 11-September 5, 2pm
  • Open Class. No 420’s.

  • After August 15, Saturday races will be run by adult volunteers.

  • Saturday post-race gatherings will be held, usually at the Library, with food and beverage.

Wednesdays, July 8 - August 12, 2pm  
  • Open class.  420’s by SYC instructor permission and only if there is adequate chase boat coverage

  • Spinnakers are optional.

  • Young sailors are especially welcome to race on Wednesdays; this race is intended as an opportunity for them to learn and improve their spinnaker and racing skills

  • After August 15, Wednesday races are dependent upon availability of adult race volunteers

 
Fridays, July 10-August 14, 2pm
  • July 10 Mercury Race – Family racing! 

  • July 17 Mercury Race – Family racing! 

  • July 24 Pre-Bean Island Overnight "Sailing Gymkhana"

  • July 31 SYC Andrew Niblock Youth Opti Invitational Regatta 

  • August 7 Mercury Race – Family racing! 

  • August 14 Take down day and SYC Bar Harbor trip

 
Sailing Classes
 
Mondays, 1:3-4:30pm, July 6, 13, 20, and Aug 3
Adult Sailing Class
  • For adults who want to learn to sail.  

  • Please bring a lifejacket and appropriate layers.  We will sail in Mercuries and/or Ensign “Sea Fever.”  

 
Tuesdays - Fridays, July 1-Aug 14, 10am-12pm
Morning Youth Sailing Class​​
  • Open to children 8+ years old.  The emphasis is on fun and safety for beginners to intermediate young sailors.

  • Bring a life jacket, appropriate layers, water bottle, and sunscreen.  

  • Swim test is mandatory, but can be done prior to the first class, video-taped and emailed to the head instructors at sorrentovia@gmail.com

    • Jump feet first into deep water without PFD; swim 25 meters (approx. 28 yards) without PFD; tread water 2 minutes without PFD; put on PFD while treading water; swim 25 meters with PFD.  PFD needs to be zipped up or have at least 2 buckles.   

Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 2-Aug 13, 1:30-4:30pm

Afternoon Youth Sailing Class

  • Open to children and teens 11-17 years old, with approval by instructors.
